04 July 2010

Every single Fourth of July, this is just what we do.

Otterpop doesn't mind living in a war zone. Doesn't notice bombs going off, nothing. Nerves of steel, that one. Ruby and Gustavo hear every single one and are shivering, quivering wrecks. Such is life on the Westside on the 4th. We crank the stereo up as loud as it goes, til our tiny house shakes, and sit with the dogs if they'll come out from under the bed.

Gustavo and Otterpop ran like champs today. Gustavo ran the best he ever has in a trial, focused and fast and poles and teeters and even got his running dogwalk contacts that we're in the middle of training. Otterpop was super speedy and happy to run, I just ran her a tiny bit to preserve her crummy leg. And of course managed to screw up her gamblers and snookers. As usual. Gustavo was all about the Q's.

Gustavo's Standard run-thanks Rob!

Nice run! It looks like the flapping ring edging distracted him for a second on the table, but you got him back. Congrats!!

Wow! How I wish my "Gustavo" would do the table like that. What a nice run.

We spend our 4th in the basement with the TV on and usually end up sleeping down there because our inner city fireworks go on until the wee hours of the morning. Wisp got to wear a new "Thundershirt" this year which helped a bit, but the back of the crate was still the safest place. kaboom.

I saw at least parts of several Gustavo runs. As I mentioned when I saw you today, he looked great! Good work on your training!

He ran even better today. Apparently staying up all night works well for him. It did not work well for me in my snookers run where my brain sent me somewhere where the judge blows a whistle and you are OUT if you go there. Aside from that, we had a great day. Thank you, coffee and Gustavo.
